Our Story

The Animal House of Okoboji was established in 1989 at the 4-way Walmart stop next to subway in Spirit Lake, Iowa (the building is no longer there). The store’s name was originally derived from the motion picture National Lampoon’s Anima House, released in 1978. The Animal House showcased Spirit Lake State apparel and brand name clothing for young men and women, with some of the brands still carried to this day. As the store grew in popularity, it expanded to a storefront in the Central Emporium. Currently the store resides on the lower level of the Central Emporium in Arnold's Park, Iowa.

The Animal House of Okoboji is a seasonal store open May 1st through the end of September or mid October. Hours may vary before Memorial Day Weekend and after Labor Day. But during the heart of the summer we are open daily (Monday - Sunday) 10 am - 9 pm.
